Just over a week ago Abercwmboi RFC suffered a huge loss. One of our "originals" and a Club stalwart passed away very suddenly.
Alwyn “Ali” Morris was one of the original members of Abercwmboi RFC and his dedication to the growth and development of the “Village”, over 40 years, was matchless.
Ali was passionate about the Village. From his heart to that indelible tattoo on his calf he embodied fervour and dedication aimed at ensuring the Club succeeded on and off the field.
He brought huge energy to all that he did. At times he was uncompromising but this only served to highlight why he was such a successful committee man and the founder of the Club’s Sponsorship Secretary role.
Ali’s immense energy and hard work will never be forgotten. He ensured the Club survived during its most difficult early days and he expected every member of the Club to hold the same loyalty and commitment. He was much repected, as can be seen from the attched photograph of players and supporters honoring him prior to the Abercwmboi v Aberdare Match.
Ali was our constant and always had our future in mind. He will forever be a major figure in the Club’s history and will never be forgotten.
Regrettably Ali was taken far too soon, from Mary, his beloved wife, his family and all of his friends at the Club.
A true friend is never truly gone and Ali was our friend.
