R.I.P. Merlin Huish

Statement from Club President Mr. Phillip Lewis.
Last week rugby lost a great friend. It was with huge sorrow and regret that I received the news of the passing of Merlin Huish.
Merlin came to Abercwmboi RFC late in his career, but made an unforgettable impact as a coach and friend. Merlin was a huge influence and inspiration, but his kind and helpful guidance almost overtook his immense expertise and knowledge. It is his thoughtfulness and friendship that I will miss.
If not for a serious injury Merlin could have made it to the top of the playing tree, but I think he achieved far more, bringing players into the game and guiding them to be respectful and better people. I won't forget him and I doubt anyone at the "Village" will. My sincere thoughts and sympathy go out to his wife and family.
Statement from Club Chairman Mr. Phillip Webster.
To add to Phil's eulogy I was coaching the youth when Merlin came to the club and he was not only a good coach but a gentleman who would offer advice and encouragement when needed.
He was respected by all and it was a shame he wasn't involved for a longer period of time.
RIP Merlin
